Dept. Association report : (from 2016-17 academic year onwards)
As part of onam celebration the department collected contribution from the students and the entire final year students went to an old age home Prathyasa Bhavan Malayalapuzha , Pathanamthitta. The students interacted with them, conducted various competions for them and given prizes. The students and inmates performed various cultural programmes. We also donated a sum of rupees 5000 towards their welfare. It was a touching experience for the students as well as the teachers. The programme was organized by Prof.Benny George, Mrs.Krishnapriya and Miss.Renjini Reji assisted it. The activities of the association were started with the formal inauguration by Chev. Prasad Joseph, the former faculty member and the present manager of the college. Inauguration was followed by a one day lecture on “GST and its implications on Kerala Economy”. Prof.Suresh Mathew George from St. Thomas College Kozhencherry took the class and throws some light on merits and demerits of GST and its impact on Kerala Economy. The class was concluded by a group discussion on the topic which was actively participated by the students.
As per the requirements of III DC students a class on “Project Preparation” was conducted by Mrs. Krishnapriya K. on 5th December 2016 which was highly effective for the students.
In the wake of the recent developments in the Indian economy an intra department debate competition was conducted by Miss Renjini Reji on the topic “Impact of Demonetization” on 6th January 2017.
An aptitude test for the first year students was conducted on 18th January 2017, Tijo Mathew and Rahumath Rahim stood first and second respectively. An interaction with Mrs. Leela Paul a social activist and a former student of this college was conducted on 24th January 2017. An open discussion was conducted and it was a campaign against corruption and exploitation. Mrs. Krishnapriya K. welcomed the guest and Anandu A. S. proposed the vote of thanks.
A Quiz competition for the economics department students was conducted on 14th February 2017. A team consisting of 2 members was admitted to the competition .out of 10 teams 4 teams were selected to the final round. The team consisted of Aravind Jayan and Anandu A. S. of III DC Economics was the winners. It was conducted by Mrs. Krishnapriya K. and Renjini Reji.
A discussion on Budget 2017-18 and its analysis was conducted on 24th February 2017 for the 2nd DC students under the supervision of Prof. Benny George. Students were asked to submit a brief report on it.
